You’re invited to my party! Oh yeah, bring food, please.
Just as the last few summers this one is no different, Mister is working on my birthday. And I’m pissed. My birthday is Friday and he usually has Thursday and Friday off so I thought Sweet we’ll finally get to hang out on my bday! Wrong. Because he’s having my family over for a BBQ on Saturday to celebrate he requested to have that day off from work. But instead of using a vacation day like they asked him to he felt he shouldn’t have to use a personal day to arrange an occasional weekend day off (I get what he’s saying, really) so they screwed him instead. This week they gave him Tuesday and Saturday off. So he’s working Friday, my birthday (again) and getting out of work at like 6:30 am on Saturday! WTF? Ugh I’m so frustrated with him because NOW he says I should’ve just used a vacation day. Um do you think??? So that basically leaves me alone on my birthday.
Sunday Mister made phone calls to my family inviting them over for the BBQ on Saturday. One of the calls he spoke to my 19.5 year old cousin who is planning a surprise birthday dinner for her boyfriend this Friday. My birthday. (Can you hear the UGH in my head now?) Apparently we’re all suppose to be at my Grandpa’s house before 7pm to surprise him. Oh yeah, its also a “pot luck” dinner.
WTF?
I’m IRKED! Ok, I’m PISSED and its because my man screwed up my birthday night. My parents are going to Grandpa’s house. My sister was in the dark and said I thought we were doing pizza and beer at your house Friday? I said I thought so, too, guess not.
So Mister tells me to play nice and just go over to Grandpa’s because the whole family will be over on Saturday for my birthday. I know he’s right. But my sister is right, too, when she said It sucks having to sing Happy Birthday to someone else on YOUR birthday. That’s right!
But what sucks even more is why the hell do we have to bring food to a party we’ve been invited to??? As big as my family is its not uncommon to gather at Grandpa’s house and make it a pot luck when its things like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Grandpa’s birthday. Those kind of things. NEVER have we invited the family over to celebrate someones birthday and been asked to bring food! In my opinion if my little cousin can’t afford to provide food then she shouldn’t be throwing a party. End of story.
So I told Mister that my sister and I both pick the kids up from camp at 6pm each night and from there we’ll probably grab two $5 pizza’s and eat at my house then go over to Grandpa’s houe. I told him, I’ll go, I’ll be nice and celebrate his birthday but I’m not bringing shit! Ok, I might roll up with two 40 oz beers for ME! LMAO
I know I sound like a bratty ass ten year old but I’m just fed up with Mister not being around on my birthday because of work and this year looked hopeful but he messed it up being stubborn. Ugh. Ok *breathe* I’m not going to let it get to me. Too much.

You just made me feel bad now too! My sister and I planned a huge surprise 80th party for grandma on August 9th. (Gram’s birthday is actually August 11th). But August 9th is also my cousin’s birthday. When she pouted, I told her to stop being a baby and grow up. Things happen on your brithday sometimes. I even reminded her that her parents actually got married on my birthday and I never complained. And her brother’s bday is Christmas Eve. That poor kid never gets a proper celebration. Anyway I sort of rough with her.
Um…apparently I was a little insensitive. Ooops. Sorry!! Maybe they will sing to you too!!

Awww, I am sorry!
I totally fell your pain though. I was pretty much all alone for my birthday too, this year. Chrstian felt he really needed to race this year. He took me out to a really early lunch, then came home, loaded up the race car and left. When I complained about it, he called my mom to see if she could watch Evelyn, then I went to watch him race with my dad and uncle. Ok, fine great. BUT we had to leave early because my parents weren’t staying at home but at their cabin which is an additional half hour away.
Not to mention, I was turning 30 and I wanted a party, all for my self.
AND THEN, the guy ahead of him on the track got spun out, and Chrisitian hit him going about 75mph right in front of me. He was ok, but I am still pissed about it.
But anyway, I hope hope hope that they remember you on Friday too! And Happy Birthday!

Fox, Mister is making it up to me by cooking ribs on Saturday.
Karen, I would TOTALLY not pout if it were my gpa’s bday, but my cousin’s boyfriend? AND she wants us to bring food for it? PPSSHH!
Tee, you’re so supportive in my poutiness. lol
Nikki, I wanted my parents to chill and have pizza/beer on my bday but they decided to go over there! lol I’m guessing b/c we’re having the bbq at their house they figured they’ll celebrate w/me enough. BUT STILL! lol
