Going back a week or so

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , , , , , at 5:29pm by Cece

This post’ll be about Craze’s visit to L.A. a couple weeks ago, or was it just last week?  Crap I can’t keep track of the days!

She and I were texting like teenagers the morning of her flight.  I was awake about 4:30′ish because, like the Disneyland commercial, I was too excited to sleep!  lol  After dropping the kids off at school I headed out to do some last minute shopping and get ready for her arrival.  Then I got a text that she’s stuck in Boise because her plane is fricken stuck in two feet of snow in WA!   I got a little worried because I did not want to be dealing with LAX traffic in the late afternoon traffice, Craze wasn’t worried, she assured me she’d be leaving that airport somehow that day!

When she finally got here we grabbed a couple of cheap pizzas and chilled til our Vegas cabana boy, Cesar, met us at the house and we rolled out to Long Beach for drinks and appetizers at Boston’s.  Here we are with my sister at Boston’s.

From Boston’s we headed over to my parents house to have drinks with them so Craze could visit her L.A. family.  I think this is when we talked her into going camping with us this coming May.  Here’s Craze with my dad.

The next day, hungover, we had morning errands to run and stopped at a Pandarilla (Mexican bakery) to pick up some sweet bread to enjoy with our red beer coffee.  Then we started making tamales for like a hundred hours.

The next morning we got up and she helped my girls bake cupcakes for Mister’s birthday dinner party that night.  It was a nice Saturday morning, we drank coffee, watched a dvd in our pj’s, chilled and didn’t start moving til early afternoon.  She rolled with me to Riverside to pick up College Girl then came home to do her chores (Craze is no longer a visiting friend, she’s family so I have no problem giving her something to do when a party is about to go down.  I mean, that’s what real friends are for, right?  lol  ).  My family started showing up and we decided to get a sober picture of us while the hair and make up was still fresh, because you never know what our night together will be like.  lol

Mister had a good birthday, my uncle bought him a bottle of tequilla.

He passed me right up in passing out shots, but I’m glad because the next morning when we went out to brunch at Ranchito I didn’t look like he felt.

From breakfast we headed to the kick ass swapmeet we have so Craze could see, as The Snitch told her, How Mexican’s spend their Sundays.  lol  It was a nice sunny day in CA so we walked around the aisles, drinking beer and listening to a live band while old couples danced their butts off.

We ended her visit with a Cece style balls out night in our garage listening to Art Laboe playing oldies, while we talked for hours and bullshitted the night away…until my neighbor came home drunk and wouldn’t go away, therefore ruining balls out night.  lol  It was off to bed, somewhere near midnight, so Craze could catch a nap and get her ass on a plane back to snowy ass IdaHO early the next morning.  Thankfully Mister was on his way to work and dropped her off because I’m not sure I was in any condition to drive on four hours sleep.   When she left I took my ass back to bed for about four more hours.

Here is Craze right before leaving my house and I ‘m not sure if she’s mad, sleepy, hungover or all three!  But she said I should’ve given her a red beer to go, silly me thought coffee was best for her condition.  I should’ve known better.  lol

So that was Craze’s visit to L.A. for Mister’s birthday/tamale making weekend.  I already miss that Ho.

I’M BACK!!

Holy crap our PC took a dump on the 20th and we have been w/o since, do you know just how torturous that has been for me???  lol  But we’re back online and running again, thankfully.

Where do I begin?  Craze’s visit and all the partying we did?  The GAZILLION dozens of fricken tamales we made?  The messiness of my holiday house?  The birthday party for Mister?  The way I was beyond spoiled by Mister for Christmas?   Or the week off Mister has and how much time we’re spending together?  lol  Or should I just start with the pictures from Craze’s visit?  lol   I’ve got a lot to say and write about but I’ll do that over the next few days, now that I can.  lol

I came back to like 500+ blog posts to read and I’ve got to be honest, I’m not going to be able to read them all but I’ll stop by your blogs the next few days.  Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, I know I did.

Finally today has arrived!

Right now Craze is sitting her ass in the Boise airport waiting to come to sunny, 46 degrees, CA!  lol   Last night we were texting and I told her to bring warm clothes b/c its 47,  she replied Its 12 here ho!  Damn, she wins.    I know what a difference 35 degrees can make because if we had that now it would be a comfortable 82 degrees.   I miss summer.

So I pick the Ho up around 10:30 and we start partying soon after, that’s how we roll.

Having Craze here is just like having my sister here, she’s more than just an Internet friend, I’ve known the ho for 6 years, she’s not going anywhere.  lol

Saturday is Mister’s 43rd birthday and I doubt I’ll be posting much this weekend so I’ll be back on-line, probably hungover, Monday morning after I drop Craze off at the airport at 5:30 in the morning.   You know I’ll be taking my ass right back to bed when I return, especially because Mister is out of work til the first and the kids are out of school, why get up early?

Have a nice weekend, y’all!

Its 4:15, family is fed, kitchen is cleaned and dog is walked. Can I start drinking now?

Good Lord I’ve been a busy one today!   I’ve been in the streets since 7:30 this morning.  No, really I have.

Kids dropped off at school then headed over to my mom’s house (two blocks away) to drop something off to my grandma.  Headed to Goodwill next, not wearing any make up but that’s ok there are usually only homeless people scrounging around the Goodwill drop off area so I know I didn’t scare them.  I hope.

From there I hit two markets in search of thirty pounds of prepared masa for tamale making this Friday morning.  Then it was home to shit, shower and shave…oops, forgot to shave my legs today, better add that to tomorrow’s To Do List.

The next trip out was to drop the dog off at the groomers and hit the market in search of ANOTHER twenty-five pounds of pork shoulder for more tamales this weekend.  There I scored on some cheap wine with a double coupon, thankyouverymucho I saved $4 there.  ;)

Then it was off to Rite Aid to pick up my prescriptions and some sore throat medicine and off to Emilio’s warehouse to buy beer for Thursday when Lori arrives.

Hit the nail salon next and realized I forgot to buy a new kitchen trash can, so off to Target I went…after I stopped at Starbucks though.

After getting home, about noon, I checked email and started cutting up one of the roasts preparing it for cooking tonight.   And wouldn’t you know it that’s when the groomer called to say Pebbles was ready.  Off I go, again.

Getting home I fed the dog and started cooking the meat but had to turn off the stove because it was time to go pick up two of the three kids from school.  After the neighbor girl drop off I had to go back to Rite Aid when I realized my sore throat was in fact a cold emerging, ugh never fails I ALWAYS get sick when the ho’s visit.

Back home to start dinner then at 3:15 had to go pick up kid #3 from tutoring at school, thankfully its last day of tutoring and the last week of school.

While cooking dinner I realized I didn’t have enough chicken so I had to dig out more and make something in the oven, but everyone was fed so its all good.

Now the family is fed, Mister is off to the dentist, kitchen is cleaned and the girls are working on cleaning their room for Lori’s arrival.  So tell me, is 4:15 too early to start drinking???

A nice surprise

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , at 7:11pm by Cece

By nature Mister and I are the giving type of people.  We enjoy doing things for others, no matter how small or simple.  For Thanksgiving he brought home CASES of freshly made pies from work and we not only passed them out to family and friends but our closest neighbors.   Also last week he put the lights up on our house and because we have an abundance of lights he went ahead and put them on our neighbor’s house, too.    Its just a husband and wife, the man works ALL DAY LONG so it was just a nice gesture on Mister’s part.

So this morning I took the dog out then closed up the house because it was cold, later the girls took the dog out, again, and when they came in Drama Queen asked me Mom, when did you put a wreath on our screen door?  I was like What are you talking about?  Then she showed me and sure enough tied to our security door was a beautiful wreath with a big red ribbon on it.

Come to find out our new neighbor, Alex, has the same wreath, he took it upon himself to buy/make us one, too.  I have to say it was a nice shock to me.  Not because they’re not nice, no, its just that they haven’t lived here very long and quite honestly 90% of our neighbors keep to themselves, with the exception of our back neighbor whom I’ve known for 25+years, back when I lived here as a child, she and I are close.

Its nice to know there are kind neighbors out there, still.  Sadly you don’t see much neighborly love in our area.  So being on the receiving end of a kind neighborly gesture was a new experience for me.   Now I know how my neighbors and friends feel when we do things for them Just because.

I love men

Posted in Uncategorized tagged at 7:30am by Cece

Every morning I’m up between 5:30-5:45 (hey that’s actually sleeping in for me from when I was working!  lol) and I start my day by taking the dog out to do her thing.   While standing out there waiting for nature to take its course for Pebbles I look around at the activity going on that early and what I’ve noticed is the men on my block rock.

Sometimes my neighbor and I are heading out at the same time, 5:45am, and he’s not returning home from work til 7-8pm.   That’s a long ass day he puts in, while his wife is home.

The neighbor in the front house is outside, lunch box packed, coffee in hand, sweatshirt pulled over his head waiting for his car pool while his wife doesn’t leave til almost 8am.

I see men warming up their cars and even heading out on bikes with their lunch pails strapped to the frame.  Hell even MY man gets up for work at 12:30 am to put his hours in while I’m home taking care of the house, kids and going to school once a week!  And he does it without a complaint, too.

I don’t know if its a Hispanic thing or what, because that’s what mostly lives in my neighborhood, but the men I see are out there busting their butts and it makes me proud.   It makes me appreciate Mister more and want to do what I can to make his life easier.

I’m a real sucky blogger, I know

Posted in Uncategorized tagged at 4:42pm by Cece

Since being laid off and turned into a SAHM it seems like I don’t blog as often (or as interestingly–to me at least) as I use to when I worked.   Nor do I get to read your blogs the way I did in the past.   I have to say that I am busier and more active now that I don’t work than I was when I was putting 40 hours in the office for nine years!

I could blog about how busy I am, what’s for dinner, how many loads of laundry I washed and folded, but I doubt you want to hear that.

I could blog about my  working out, Weight Watchers and cardio kickboxing class but I’ve got my weight loss blog for that, so I won’t bore you.

I could bore you with all the cutesy things my kids say and draw, but again, I won’t bore you with that because its probably only cutesy to me.

(But I will share something funny The Snitch told me last week, she said Mom, I love you. I really love you and you look so pretty everyday when you come pick me up from school. Of course I replied Thank you, baby. Not surprising, to me, her next response was Yeah have you got a look at some of those mom’s standing out there? Its 2:00 and I don’t think half of them showered yet! Good lord, that child is only six!)

Don’t feel bad, people, you’re not the only ones I’m neglecting.   I have tons of new books I just bought and have not sat down to read because I don’t have time!   I’m honestly thinking of going to LAX thirty minutes before Craze lands just so I can get some reading in!

I’ll blog when I can and I swear I will make time to once a week read/comment on your blogs.   I promise.  Please don’t ditch me, yet.   ;)

Wow, can you believe it?

Christmas Eve is in 21 days!   Are you ready?   Do you have any family traditions for this time of year?  Wanna share?

For us, we get together, before Christmas Eve, with my grandma and make TONS of tamales, even my sister who doesn’t eat them joins in because its all about the day spent talking, talking, gossiping, snacking, laughing and having a few drinks among us girls.   Dad usually drops by some cheese, crackers and sausage.   Along with a box of See’s candy and either beer or wine.   We hang out and have the best time ever.  This year my girl Craze will get to join us for the labours festivities!

Christmas Eve has always been spent at my maternal grandmother’s house but this year we’ll be spending it at my parents house since grandma moved in with them awhile back.

Christmas morning is the best.   We get up around 6′ish, set the coffee and wake up the girls, if they don’t get us up first.  lol  Once we plow through our gifts we use to go next door to my sister’s house, in our pj’s with cups of coffee, and exchange gifts with them.   But my sister moved almost two years ago so we’ll all meet at our parents house, two blocks away and still in our pj’s and slippers, to exchange gifts.  My mom’s house is crazy with Christmas music, the smell of coffee, fudge and cookies set on a plate and the sound of kids having fun.   That’s the best part of the day for me.   Once we’re done with gifts and we get the living room cleaned up we start warming up tamales and ham for breakfast, someone begins cooking eggs and we eat breakfast together, all eleven of us.

Sine I’ve always worked I use to take the 26th off as a vacation day, so when we got home from mom’s we would do some cleaning up to make taking down the tree that much easier for me on the 26th.  This year I’m just leaving it all alone!   When we get home from mom’s house we’re going to get ready and take the kids to the movies instead!   lol  A new tradition that I hope will stick.   We’re going to take them to see the new Adam  movie, Bedtime Stories.  Then when we’re finished there we’ll head over to my grandpa’s house to spend the day with my dads family.  That usually turns into a night of drinks and games, lots of pictures and kids running around EVERYWHERE because now we have something like 22 great-grand children on dad’s side of the family.

As I’ve said before, I’m grateful for my big family but even more grateful that we all get along because we spend a lot of time together this time of year and it makes me really look forward to it.  I can’t wait!  Now if I could just get the rest of my shopping done I’ll be cool.  lol
