So being unemployed isn’t all that bad, yet. I had my HR meeting on Friday and found out that I’ve got three months of severance. So right now I’m on payroll for two more months, I’m still accruing vacation, sick and sales bonuses. Come the last pay check for me in December I’ll be paid out for sick and vacay. Then my severance kicks in and I’ll be able to apply for unemployment, which I’ll bank because I still have a healthy twelve weeks of severance coming in. The first thing I’ve got to concentrate on is finding some sort of affordable health insurance for the kids. We’re looking into Mister’s job and I’m researching online, too. So we’ll see what happens there. My job is also offering two outplacement courses next week that I’m going to attend and take advantage of all they’re giving us.
So the nice side of being out of work is I don’t have to get up at 4:50 am to work out, now I can sleep til 6am and work out when the kids go to school. I get to pick my kids up from school and help them with homework. I’ve got more time with Mister, too. As a matter of fact I told him Its a good thing you and I get along very well because we’re going to be spending A LOT of time together the next five months! lol I get to take care of errands and chores during the day while the kids are at school. Monday Mister and I are driving up to Barstow to hit the Coach outlet for an incredible sale so I can pick up a couple of Christmas gifts. I’ve yet to clean and organize the shit out of my house but that’ll come next week, when I don’t have to keep running back and forth to the office.
It looks like I’m going to take advantage of this time off and work the stay at home mom thing for a bit. God help me. lol This is the first time in almost fifteen years that I haven’t worked so its new territory for me. Wish me luck!

Wow, did you hit the jackpot!! It sucks you lost your job but at least you don’t have to panic to find a new one right away
Have fun being a stay at home mom and think of me while you’re at the Coach outlet

Good luck! That is a great severance package, especially now. I know you’ll take advantage of every opportunity to get ahead, but enjoy the time off with your girls.

Cece, Try looking into Humana…I hear they are a good insurance company to go through…see if they are in your state.
Also, Congrats on the shift and being able to concentrate on family. I feel that this is an important step.
Again, I like your style as you are going with the flow.

You are going to enjoy your “time off”!
Your nephew is adorable (and born on the same day as my son 19 years ago).

I have to say, I am a tad bit jealous. I’ve been off for 2 days and I am going to have hell to pay tomorrow.

Heidi, we didn’t make it to the outlet this week but we’re heading there Saturday.
Ann, yes, I was that crazy woman who’d get up that early to exercise. Nuts!
Sue, the girls are enjoying it that’s for sure.
Craze, today begins the house cleaning.
Flyin, thanks I’ll look into that.
Thanks Chris.
Aimee, I refuse to get sucked into day time TV.
Carrie, don’t be jealous, this pay isn’t going to last forever.
