That is how many tamales my mom, grandma and I made today! I got up at 5:45′ish to have a cup of coffee, wake up and check emails before I got busy and started making the chili for my tamales. I began working at 6:30 am and got everything prepped and ready then hit the shower and pulled myself together and started working on them, alone, til my mom and grandma came over at 9:00. We worked, talked, laughed, listened to music and had a Bloody Mary until 1:30pm. And then they were DONE! Done prepping, that is. I started cooking them just after 2:00 and they’ll take about 6-7 hours to cook slowly, properly. My body aches and I was tired, but I had to keep going. My girls were counting on me feeding them the Mexican yumminess of homemade tamales in Vegas. My house smells so wonderful right now.
FOURTEEN HOURS of prepping, cleaning, cooking and cleaning will go into this meal. Damn I must really love my family and girlfriends, huh? All I’ve got to say is those Ho’s each better buy me a shot of Patron when we’re in Vegas or I’m taking my tamales home with me! lol
