What a weekend! I feel like we ate and drank it away! Am I complaining? Naw.
I feel like I had a long weekend because I went home “sick” on Friday. Niiice. I got lunch then took a two hour nap with a snuggly five year old.
Saturday I just did house stuff but Sunday was a wonderful day. Not only because it was 88 degrees and I was wearing sandals, T-shirt and capri’s but becuase we had a Halloween party for the kids at my Grandpa’s house.
I got the girls dressed and made up then got dressed myself. (I’m not going to tell you what I dressed as, I’ll post pictures tomorrow.) We had a pumpkin carving contest and the kids had to carve it themselves. We were able to help them here and there but it was mostly their own doing. After the carving was complete each pumpkin was displayed with a letter to identify it. The parents had their kids’ letter and when Grandpa picked the winning pumpkins we were told to look at our letters. Well The Snitch won for most original! She walked away with $10! And my cousin’s son got the other $10 for creativity or something like that.
After the pumpkins were carved, cleaned then judged. We had the kids take their pumpkins to the front yard which was now the “grave yard” and we put candles in them and lit them up. I’ve got to tell you, a grave yard with 13 lit pumpkins is TOO COOL! Yup, we had 13 kids there yesterday. All cousins, too. And we were still missing three kids!
After that we had them bobbing for apples. Oh my god that was so much fun! I was in charge of that while my aunt was warming up chicken nuggets and pizza for the kids. I’ve got some great pictures of that game.
A cousin of mine set up boxes of yuck stuff for the kids to feel. They were labled GUTS BRAINS and EYE BALLS! The boxes had cold spaghetti, anther pasta covered in ketchup so when they removed their hand from the box it was covered in red! LMAO! And the EYE BALLS were a big bowl of black olives! More great pictures there. And the funny thing is when they saw what was in the boxes, after it was over, they began eating the spaghetti and olives! Yes, the same sapaghetti and olives 13 kids had just touched! GROSS!
The night ended with us parents pitching in for prize money and several rounds of Musical Chairs.
Oh what a night! We were there all day. Then from there we headed to my step-son’s house because it was his 22nd birthday and his grandma was having a dinner for him. I don’t think we were getting home until almost 10:00. That means I had two tired and crying kids this morning.
So that was my busy weekend. Luckily this week is teacher/parent conference week and I get out of work early twice. I scored, too, because I get out on Halloween AND Friday! Woohoo! Niiice.
Hope y’all had a great weekend. I’ll get the pictures up tonight and post them tomorrow.

Sweet! I wish I would have been there. Or anywhere. One of these years I’ll get to dress up. BTW, the pic you sent via text was cute. LOL!
Oh, next time put the olives in pudding. Makes it even grosser than gross.

Kids are such a blessing because the give us adults the opportunity to do fun things like that – life would sure be boring without them! Sounds like you are part of a great family!

I love that your (MY) family does all that for the kids. I would attempt it but there are like 3 counsins in the family and 2 of them are part of my ex’s family.
Can’t wait to see the pics!!

Sue, I took that while driving. Thankfully my Gpa only lives a few blocks b/c I hated driving w/that wig on! lol
Bethie, I don’t know why Ho never even crossed my mind! DAMMIT! lol
Angie, I wouldn’t trade my big, nutty family for anything!
MsL & Mo2, the pictures are up now!
Yakima, I’m sure if it wasn’t for the kids we wouldn’t have had as much fun as we did.
Craze, yeah 3 kids isn’t as thrilling as 13! LMAO
Heidi, do you guys have Halloween parties for your school kids?
Beth, they really did have a good time. I could totally see you doing that too.
Sass, I don’t remember my parents doing things like this for us either.
Chelle, booze helps throughout the party process.
