Last week I bought my first Christmas gift for 2007.
Yes, that’s right, I did say Christmas. And yes, you’re right, its only May. So what of it?
Each year, when I’m broke as hell, grouchy and tired from shopping at lunch, I swear I’m going to start earlier than November. Yet each year I neglect the promise I made to myself and end up shopping at lunch and broke as shit come 12/22. Not this year, though. This is the year I actually do it.
Calm down, I only spent $10 at Target on a DVD for the kids. So what makes me picking up gifts here and there, as I see good sales in Spring and Summer, any different from people who begin squirrling cash away into a savings, monthly, just to spend during Christmas? Ahhh! There is no difference, huh? Nope.
So envy me, people, come December when everyone is complaining and whinning about the madness that the retail rush brings, I’m going to be reminding you of this post.

I totally envy you!! I always end up in the stupid December shopping crunch, too. Boo.

I say the same thing every year, and as the years progress it’s slowly working. Last year I had very little shopping to do last minute, of course that may have been because I was unemployed with very little moolah to spend!

Are you sure you aren’t still on drugs? That is crazy. I’m changing your name to Christmas.

Oh and about this morning. Do you live in the hood? My mailman is from SoCal. He moved here about 10 years ago and he is kinda older but he is the funniest guy and teases the shit out of me but this is our conversation this morning:
MM: So who do you know in So. Cal that doesn’t know your address.
Me: That is Cece. You know 1550 sounds like 1515.
MM: What part does she live in.
Me: Paramount.
MM: (turns to walk out) Oh that is scary.
Me: Yeah, she said you could throw a rock and hit Compton.
MM: I wouldn’t suggest you staying with her while on visit. You would have culture shock.
Me: (laughing my ass off) No?
MM: Well there are good parts of Paramount.
Me: Yeah?
MM: The part where you go out of it. (And he walks out)

LMAO! Your mail man knows where Paramount is? How funny is that!
And if Mind’s white butt was safe here you can be too. lol
Did I get your addy wrong?

The "Mind"
What about my white butt? Yeah, your area isn’t that bad. Not that I’d be walking around it at night much, but I didn’t feel unsafe in your house.
However, I was peeved at Pman for wanting me to get out and get him a coke out of the vending machine at that gas station that Mister met us at. Especially when some Asian dude came up and started asking us directions. I’m thinking, “Dude, we are so white, close to Compton, why does he think WE know where we are going?” LOL!
We told him to wait for Mister.
And I still had to get out of the vehicle and go buy Pman a coke.
Fucker.

Mind, even *I* don’t walk our neighborhood after dark! lol

I am so going to start shopping this month!! My problem is I can’t find any of the shit come Christmas time.

You notice that “The Mind” said “in” your house? LOL
I’m pretty white. It with this southern accent, I am sure to get mugged.
You can’t walk your neighborhood at night? Sounds like here. Tulsa is a nice place but we live off a mainstreet so he doesn’t let me go outside after dark alone. (washer and dryer is in the garage) We have police chases every weekend right on our street.
Yeah it is 1550 not 1515. You probably heard mister wrong.

There’s usually not a rush online, so I’ll be ok.

Ha. So mine was wrong, too, eh? Since I got your addy from Cece.
Must go change that in my address book.
I was laughing because I was thinking, “Oh, Carrie lives at 1515 and I live at 1414. How weird.”
Duh, not weird when you get the correct address.

Craze, I am determined to buy something, even if its little, each pay period.
Janet, Mister waits that long, too, and it drives me NUTS!
Augs, you almost had me! lol
Web, do you still do that?
EC, thank you. Thank you very much (in my best Elvis voice!)
MsL, that’s what I did last year, but I still over spent! lol

Hi! I stumbled across your blog the other day and just wanted to let you know that I totally enjoyed reading it. I went through your archives too, so don’t worry, I’m not a stalker or anything lol.
I too love Christmas and try to have my shopping done early. Problem is I tend to forget the things I bought back in the summer or I give it to them soon after buying it. I buy wrapping paper, cards, ornaments and decorations on December 26 “Boxing Day” (I’m in Canada), and get great deals, everything goes on sale then. You beat me for buying gifts early, I don’t start til Augustish.

Hi Char! Thanks for commenting & welcome! Hope to see you again! (Yay! a new reader!)
Every year I “say” I’m going to go shopping the day after Xmas, too, but by then I’m so damn broke and SICK of the holiday that I just give it up & start buying booze for New Years Eve! lol

Wow! You’re ambitious — and, unlike me, you definitely don’t leave things till the last minute! Wow….

ooooh I envy you. I need to do that too. You’ve inspired me. Too bad I’m broke. DAMN IT!

I do envy you. Every year I plan on doing the early here and there shopping thing. Do I ever succeed? Nope. If I buy something I usually just go ahead and give it to them, b/c I know they’ll be excited about it. I’m an overzealous giver, and a procrastinating shopper. The two don’t go hand in hand.

I bought the first 07′ gift on Dec 29th.. I just hope I remember where I stashed everything when it comes to time give them. I did some spring cleaning and found 2 gifts that were intended for the 06′ season….
