I took this picture on Super Bowl Sunday. The kids and I were in Long Beach for the day. It was getting cold and breezy, I remember.
Living in the city we miss out on beautiful things such as sunrise and sunset. The last time I saw a sunset like this was on 4th of July, last year, when we were on vacation in New Mexico.
Its mesmerizing. Its gorgeous. Its serene!
Where we live, we’re surrounded by apartment buildings. Even when I would take our dog out at 5:30 in the morning I would only be able to see the light above the buildings, but not this glorious sight.
After we returned from New Mexico, I found myself missing it. I missed being able to stand at the front door and just listen to the world be. Not like at home where our common sound in the evening is that of a helicopter! Nothing says Welcome to Los Angeles like the sound of a Ghetto-Bird late at night.
As my friend’s Mind, Sara and Craze have mentioned recently, vacation is just DAYS away now. Oh how I’m looking forward to that beach house in Mexico. I’m looking forward to hanging out with my best buds in the evening, drinking Margarita’s and being able to not only witness the sun setting, but setting on the beautiful Pacific ocean that is right outside of our deck.
I would love to catch a sunrise, but I doubt that any of us will be up early enough to see that. You know, Mexico, Margarita’s and friends make a late night!

We’ll be up. Remember we are 3 hours ahead of you and won’t have adjusted to the time change yet. I’ll take few pictures and have coffee waiting for you.

I know what you mean.
There is something so wonderful about silence and clear veiws.
When we moved here from the city I was so struck by the lack of sirens. We hardly ever hear them!
I’m so exited about your trip and can’t wait to hear ALL about it!

That is beautiful. I can see the sun set everyday but never get up in time for sun rise.
On the ship I have seen the sun set but never a sun rise. I am going to do it this time!

Web, we love Mexico, too. Its the best place to vacation!
Mind, you’re probably right. I’ll leave my camera out for you, ok? lol Maybe I’ll even have set my alarm to join you, watch it and take my funky butt back to bed!
Msl, we were visiting friends in WA one time & it was SO quiet there. My sister & I joked about missing the sound of heicopters. I kid you not, AS SOON as we got home from the airport, parked the car & opened the doors, what do you think we heard? Helicopters. My sis & I looked at each other said We’re home! And laughed. We’re so use to it, it doesn’t phase us. Sad,huh?
Carrie, especially on vacation, we miss sunrise due to taking advantage of SLEEPING IN! lol
Haley, it was nice. My kids were shivering b/c it was cold, but I made them stand there & deal w/it while I fished my camera out of my purse & kept snapping pix til I got it right. lol They survived!

Wow, that is a gorgeous picture and pictures never can do it justice either, so it must have been even more incredible “in person.”
Yay for your vacation. You are going to have a blast!

I’m so ready for vacation!! I don’t know how many sunrises we’ll see, unless we’re STILL up from the night before! LOL
You must come visit ME sometime, we have an awesome sunset almost every night.

Michelle, i’ve got slippers on my packing list!
Slacker, I thought you said I suck! LOL
Linds, it was gorgeous. We hardly get to see things like that b/c of our surrounding buildings, so I really enjoyed it.
Craze, we really need to make a trip to visit you. Hey, that could be one of our goals, party til the sun comes up! lol
See you in 15 days, girl!

That’s a great shot! Very pretty!! Come up north to my cabin and you’ll get to see lots of sunsets and sunrises while staying warm by the fireplace! You can’t beat that!

My vote is that we see a sunrise BEFORE we head to bed. We have been up till 4 or later before, we can stretch it a little longer and catch it…. although it won’t be over the water—that’s what sunsets are for!
