I work for my Friday’s. If we meet our weekly “numbers” by Thursday evening we get to leave an hour early on Friday. I work for my Friday’s. My boss know’s this, so its no secret. And he’s OK with it because that little incentive increases productivity. Its a win/win situation in the end.
Well, recently the incentive has changed a bit. If we were out sick as long as we made up the missing day’s work and still hit our “numbers” that week we were still able to leave early. Not anymore. If we’re out sick then we don’t qualify for the early day. Since I was out yesterday with The Snitch, I double checked with my lead and sure enough, I have to stay ’til 5:00 on Friday. Oh well. Know what that means? I don’t have to work as hard today and tomorrow! LOL
Yeah, I suck but so what.

I just learned about that behavior in my management class. How long have you been there? I sometimes don’t even walk out of here until 7 o’clock but I do shut down the internet and email so I won’t get tempted. I guess it has to do with working with my love. I don’t get bored.

I’ve been here 7 years. I’ve gone from data enty to customer service to inside sales (now).
I do that, too, Carrie. When I need/want to get things done I give myself X amount of time to do it in w/o playing on the internet.

I think that it’s totally fair to not work as hard.

Yeah don’t strain yourself or anything the next few days. It’s so not worth it. Just pace yourself and then they’ll learn not to mess with your fridays!!

That sucks, but I wouldn’t knock myself out if I didn’t get to leave early either.
You know, I started hanging out online whenever my boss was gone for a smoke break. If he doesn’t have to work, why should I, right? I got nothing done because he’d be gone for about 4 1/2 – 5 hours out of our 6 hour workday…just smoking and drinking coffee.
