This morning we’re taking the girls to a studio and have their pictures taken for the first time since 20002!
Why so long in between photo shoots? Um, a little person, who shall remain nameless (The Snitch) refused to cooperate all the gazillion times since then. I understand small children tend to be shy and timid during a certain age period, usually when they’re around 2 years old, but its something they usually outgrown in a year or so. This girl? Hers lasted 3.5 YEARS! After awhile I began to think it was plain stubbornness and just said Screw it! And haven’t made a studio attempt since 2005.
Over the years we tried bribes, threats, negotiating, begging and pleading. Nothing has worked. Do you know how much it sucks ass to be seen pleading with a 3 year old to Please smile for the lady and I’ll take you to McDonald’s!
Now that she is almost 5 years old, the shy routine is out the door. I’ve got her number and I know her game. I took them shopping for picture clothes last night so I think we’ll have a good sitting.
I wonder if its possible to have the images put on a CD for me and then just print my own pictures. Hmmm… So wish us luck. When I get the pictures or proofs I’ll make a point to scan them and show you guys.

Awww, I hope they turn out great! If you go to Sears, I think after you spend $50 they’ll give you the cd. hah After you spend $50 you’ll have all the pictures you should need though. Sucks but that’s the only place I know that will provide a cd.
I’ve *heard* that if you just buy the largest picture possible, scan it somewhere with a great scanner, crop it a bit and send it to somewhere like kodakgallery and they *will* print them. However, that is violating a copyright. Just something I *heard*.

Oh my! When I was a kid I loved having my picture taken. Wait, I still do. Good luck and I hope you don’t throw a temper tantrum, I meant I hope SHE doesn’t throw one.

Oh man..it’s been sooo long sinice I’ve had my three kids ini for a portrait. lol I guess I just always took so many candid shots of them I just never wanted to deal wih the bullshit of a professional photographer. Now…of course…I wish I had done it more. Good for you taking them….and can’t wait see pics if you post them

Sassy we went to a place similar to Sears. I”m not going to say where b/c when I get the pix I’m sure I’ll illegally scan, post & have more made. So I’m not going to incriminate myself. LOL But I paid extra to have them put online. The girl told me I can download them to my PC. If I can do that I can order more through kodakgaller, huh?
Mind, that was before the days of bottle caps. On the way to the studio, walking thourhg the mall, we passed a cookie stand and a fruit smoothie stand. That was her bribe (especially b/c I knew she’d be hungry when we left!). If she did what the lady said she’d get a treat. Sort of like training a dog, eh?
Carrie, why doesn’t it surprise me that you love to have your picture taken? LOL No tantrums,they were good. When we left The Snitch tells me “Mom, at first I was very nervous. But when I met the lady I felt comfortable then had fun. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be.” Uh, this came from a 4 year old.
Chelle, I feel like a bad mom b/c when my oldest was an only child, I had her pictures taken every few months. Baby #2, uh only twice in her 5 year life! I don’t have a favorite child. I swear!
Oh & the pictures came out nice. They look so cute. I was sort of bummed b/c I didn’t think to have her not use a black back drop b/c their hair is dark. So I didn’t order any of those, and some of those were cute & fun. Aw well. I got 3 poses, and only paid $3.99 a sheet, that even included the 10×13 I needed to replace. So w/the sitting fee & every thing I walked out paying less than $60! Woohoo.
They had pictures that I wanted they had enhanced, like made b&w or sephia. But those mf’ers wanted $30 a SHEET! Fuck that! I’ll just steal it from their internet and do it myself later! LOL
