Only 11 more days til we hit the road, at 2:00 in the morning, for our mini vacation to Taos, NM. We’ve been planning this trip for months, now its here! I haven’t been to NM in 6 years, my family has never been but my parents go every few years.

The 3 kids are looking forward to it. C even checked out a book, from her school library, about NM and asked her teacher to photo copy a few pages so she can get an idea of what NM will be like.

My aunt (dad’s eldest sister), her twin grandson’s and her youngest son live there. They’re so excited for our visit. I haven’t seen the twins in YEARS! They’re 8 now and I hear they’re big. Our girls are going to have a ball with the boys.

Hardly any of our family ever goes out to visit them, its usually the other way around, they try to make it to CA at least once a year. My family is weird like that. Us? We’re looking forward to the drive! We’re looking forward to doing a whole lot of nothing! We’re looking forward to chillin’ & grillin’ !

Just think, 13 hours of driving will lead to 3 days of relaxing. Not to mention we’ll be there over 4th of July. That, I can’t wait for. Here, in the city, 4th of July gets a wee bit out of hand. You get the fools who are blowing up the illegal stuff, shooting off guns & the helicopters going all evening. Where we live, the next day, it looks like Ghetto-City with all the trash and burnt stuff left at the curb and in the street. So this get away is much anticipated.

We’ve rented a house where my aunt use to work. I can’t wait to see the place, my aunt says its very nice. Oh & the pictures I’m gonna get! Hmm…I wonder if we’ll get a Julia Roberts sighting in Angel Fire that weekend.

So, now the next two weekends are filled with errands and shopping in preparation for the long drive. Next week at work is going to be so hard, I know I’m going to have serious vacation brain. Let the count down begin…
